Yoga

Yoga is the journey
of the Self
through the Self,
to the Self

(Bhagavad Ghita)

It is an ancient Indian system of timeless guidelines and techniques for conscious and attentive living and wellbeing. It is a physical, philosophical and spiritual discipline. The awareness of the breath, of the senses, feelings and emotions, ability of self-exploration and reflection, accepting, surrendering and letting go are very relevant even in our turbulent and competitive modern World.

In my classes I do like to stress and teach that yoga is not about how perfect your asana looks, or how advanced you are compared to the others in the class, neither about forcing the body – often risking injuries – into an impressive looking asana. It is not a work out, it is a work from the body level inward. It is about how much you calm your mind through breathing to be able to listen inside and acknowledge what you feel in the asana. To be aware and accept emotions that may come up, how you deal with them and how you let them go. It is much more about acceptance than forcing yourself going beyond your boundaries. The paradox is that the ability of going beyond our boundaries lays in first accepting our obstacles. Don`t you just love this too?

Yoga is ultimately about overcoming obstacles of the mind and learning to experience one’s true nature.

I have remained a dedicated student myself. Yoga is a never-ending journey. It is present on – and off the mat. It is how you relate to the world, how you connect to people and to yourself. It is giving and receiving. Therefore, I seek continuously new teachers, new styles, new trainings and new experiences. The best discovery in this journey was and still is, not only to unfold newer layers of my own practice and turning deeper to myself, but to share this potential also with others.

Thankyou’s

Last, but not least I would like to express my endless love and appreciation to

all my teachers past and present, all the beautiful souls I have met during my travelling, and trainings. For their conscious and unconscious contribution to my development and for making me become exacting and seeking high standards in both learning and teaching.

To my teachers at Atma Center where my yoga journey has begun… and at Sampoorna Yoga where it’s been continued…
